    Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Oslo

Arrive in Oslo and make your own way using the express airport train (19 mins) to your central hotel in the heart of the city. The Norwegian capital has a great deal to offer. If you arrive early, we can recommend a walk around the centre of town to view the Parliament, the Royal Palace and the harbour area. Discover the area of Bjørvika with the Opera House and Munch Museum, then explore the shopping streets, cafés and eateries of Grünerløkka. After browsing the design boutiques, vintage shops and flea markets, head to the Mathallen food hall for local specialties. Lastly, visit the National Museum of Norway down by the harbour before finding a spot in one of the local fish restaurants for dinner.

Overnight at Clarion Hotel Oslo or similar

Day 2 - Depart Oslo by early train and enjoy the spectacular journey to Flåm

Catch an early morning train from Oslo to Myrdal, where you join the Flåm Railway down to Flåm. The journey over Northern Europe's largest mountain plateau is spectacular. In the comfort of your train, watch fjord scenery unfold with waterfalls, flowing rivers, deep valleys and mountains.

In the afternoon, you check into your hotel in Flåm.

In the evening, head off for the Heritage Taste food safari, which takes you by RIB boat along the Aurlandsfjord and further into the world heritage Nærøyfjord, stopping along the way to try local farm produce. Porter service is included to transfer your main luggage from Oslo to Bergen, allowing you to travel light with just an overnight bag.

Day 3 - Stegastein Viewpoint and Balestrand

After breakfast, join the 1.5-hour bus excursion to the Stegastein Viewpoint, 650 metres above the fjord. Here you have a wide view over the fjord landscape and a good spot for photographs. After, you have time to relax or go for short walks in Flåm before departing at 15:30 by express boat to the village of Balestrand on the Sognefjord.

In Balestrand, you will stay at the historic Kviknes Hotel, where the Kviknes family have been the hosts since 1877. Now a modern hotel with all the comforts, it still holds on to its old-time character and hosts an extensive collection of artworks and antiques worth a look.

After breakfast, join a cruise on the Fjærlandsfjord, also known as "the green fjord", to Fjærland, passing tiny villages, waterfalls and steep mountains along the way. From Fjærland it is a short bus drive to the Bøyabreen glacier and the Norwegian Glacier Museum. Entry to the museum is included.

After, return to Balestrand and take the opportunity to explore the village and its surroundings on foot or by bike.

Day 5 - Enjoy the amazing views as you depart Balestrand to Bergen

Take the morning or afternoon express boat out of the Sognefjord and south towards Bergen. With several hours on the water, you have plenty of time to soak in the atmosphere and the fresh air. There is a café on board with simple options, and you can sit out on the upper deck with room to move. The boat moves quickly and there are several stops along the way. Precipitous mountains, thunderous waterfalls and small homesteads that cling to the mountainsides frame this journey.

Bergen is known as the gateway to the fjords of Norway, a lively town with small-town charm and an international feel. We recommend a walking tour via the famous fish market and along the Bryggen, the old Hanseatic wharf, which is architecturally unique and listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Also worth a visit is the Fløibanen funicular, which takes you to Mount Fløyen for the best views over the town.

Overnight at Bergen Børs Hotel or similar, with breakfast. Your main luggage will be waiting for you at your hotel in Bergen.
