Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive Bergen and transfer to your hotel

Arrive and self transfer to your hotel.

Discover some of Bergen's many attractions and sights, many of them within walking distance. Recommended sights of interests are the Hanseatic harbour Bryggen, Fløibanen Funicular, Troldhaugen, the Fish and Flower market, Bergen Aquarium and Gamle Bergen (Old Bergen Open Air Museum).

Day 2 - Depart Bergen on the start of the Norient Express, arriving in Voss

Lying northeast of Bergen is Voss, a spectacular landscape of snow-capped mountains, deep valleys and magnificent waterfalls. It’s one of the world’s leading sites for extreme sports and the gateway to Norway’s two largest fjords: Hardangerfjord and Sognefjord.

While there, why not partake in some wine tasting in Norway’s largest wine cellar or a cold, fresh beer at Voss Brewery? And in the spring and summer, don’t miss the opportunity to sample some award-winning cider on a “cider safari” in Hardangerfjord.

Keen golfers will also want to tee off at Voss Golf Course, nestled alongside the glistening waters of Lake Lønavatnet. You’ll take the Voss Gondol up to restaurant Hangurstoppen for dinner with a view, and stay overnight at the historic Fleischer’s Hotel.

Day 3 - Flåm and Finse

At the end of the world’s longest and deepest fjord lie the villages of Flåm and Finse, joined by an unforgettable train line and one of Norway’s most popular tourist attractions.

The 20-kilometre-long Flåm Railway features the finest aspects of the stunning scenery of western Norway, running from the end of Aurlandsfjord up to the high mountains at Myrdal station. On this relaxing journey, you’ll pass through 20 tunnels and take in thunderous waterfalls up close, as the train chugs up to 1,222 metres above sea level, where your hotel awaits.

The journey includes a stop for lunch at Fretheim Hotel in Flåm and a visit to Ægir modern craft brewery.

In summer, an electric boat cruise along the UNESCO World Heritage Site Nærøyfjord is also possible, and the more adventurous travellers may want to explore the Flåm Valley by foot or bike.

Day 4 - Stop at Hønefoss, then arrival at Lillestrøm

Today you’ll head east to Hønefoss, stopping at the Kistefos Museum. Sitting on the Randselva river, Norway’s largest sculpture park is most known for The Twist – an award-winning structure which combines gallery and bridge and, once seen, is never forgotten. The New York Times described it as a must-see cultural destination, and if that wasn’t enough, the park contains sculptures by acclaimed artists such as Anish Kapoor, Olafur Eliasson and Yayoi Kusama.

Your journey continues to the heart of the countryside, where rustic charm meets the dark mystique of the forest. Losby Gods is a large country estate, steeped in over 170 years of history, elegance and tradition, where you’ll enjoy a classic afternoon tea. Other events take place depending on the season, and golfers won’t want to miss the chance to explore Norway’s best golf course.

You may also want to take this chance to enjoy an evening in nearby Oslo, Norway’s vibrant capital city.

Day 6 - Final destination Trondheim – The Viking Capital

The old city of Trondheim is now bustling with youth and fresh ideas, a booming tech community, and cutting-edge start-up incubators. This is largely due to being the home of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, the largest university in Norway.

To complete your journey in the most exclusive and luxurious manner, you will stay at the newly-renovated five star Britannia Hotel.

Surrounded by opulent design, you can unwind in the well-equipped spa and dine at one of several renowned restaurants on the premises. Located in the city centre and within walking distance of many wonderful sites and attractions, how about a stroll through the colourful and charmingly picturesque Bakklandet neighbourhood, stopping for the perfect photo on the Gamle Bybro (Old Town Bridge).
