In winter, Finland transforms into a fairytale landscape of snow-covered forests and frozen lakes, and this six-day independent tour takes you from the elegant design capital of Helsinki to the wild heart of Lapland. Arriving in Helsinki, you will be orientated to the city on a walking tour, taking in its most iconic streets and landmarks before heading north to Rovaniemi, the gateway to the Arctic.
At the wilderness resort, your days are filled with some of Lapland's most memorable experiences, including a thrilling snowmobile safari through picture-perfect white forests, an unforgettable husky safari where the dogs' excitement is infectious on the trail, and a peaceful evening reindeer sleigh ride guided by a local herder. You'll chase the Northern Lights, with expert guides positioning you away from light pollution to maximise your chances of witnessing this remarkable natural phenomenon.
This tour is designed to balance iconic Lapland highlights with quieter, more immersive moments, all at a considered and unhurried pace.

Private transfers in Rovaniemi
Finland's capital greets you with a distinctive character all of its own, a city shaped by the sea, the forest, and a culture that values simplicity, design, and the quiet pleasures of Nordic life. Settle into your hotel and take the rest of the day to find your bearings, whether that means a stroll along the harbour front, a visit to one of the city's celebrated cafes, or simply watching Helsinki life unfold around you.
In the morning, explore Helsinki on a small group walking tour that goes well beyond the surface of this fascinating city. A local guide leads the way through a carefully crafted route taking in Senate Square and the iconic Helsinki Cathedral, the lively harbour front and Market Square, the gilded domes of Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral, and the creative energy of the Design District, with hidden courtyards, tucked-away art spots, and lesser-known stories woven throughout. It is a city of layers, and today you begin to uncover them.
Make your own way to the airport for your flight north to Rovaniemi, the gateway to Finnish Lapland and home to some of the most extraordinary winter landscapes on earth. On arrival, transfer to Vaattunki Wilderness Resort, your base for the next few nights. Nestled deep in the Arctic wilderness, the resort offers a truly unique way to experience Lapland, with glass igloos allowing you to fall asleep beneath a sky that, with luck, will be dancing with the northern lights.
Lapland rewards those who venture into it, and over the next two days you will have the chance to experience it fully. Activities are confirmed on arrival and allocated across your time at the resort, but expect a combination of aurora hunting beneath the Arctic sky, the exhilaration of a snowmobile safari through the frozen forest, the gentle rhythm of a reindeer sleigh ride through the wilderness, and the infectious energy of a husky safari, with a team of eager dogs pulling you through the snow-covered landscape.
Another day, another adventure. With your remaining activities confirmed by the resort team, you have more time to immerse yourself in the Arctic landscape and everything it has to offer. Between activities, make the most of the resort itself and keep an eye on the skies as darkness falls.
After a final breakfast in the wilderness, a private transfer takes you onward. If you would like to extend your Arctic adventure or add nights in Helsinki on your return, we would be delighted to help with ideas.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Weather conditions may occasionally affect certain activities, and as a result, the schedule may be adjusted to ensure the best possible experience for all guests. For multi-activity stays, often the order of the activities will be confirmed locally on arrival. Activities might vary slightly in their duration or location due to the weather and local conditions. Any activities that are unable to be re-scheduled due to weather conditions, will be refunded as a general practice, as determined by the activity provider.
